2月19日 Binduch's irregular weekly wrap up Pilot Hello and welcome to the first of the brand new weekly wrap ups. Why Irregular? Well fortunately I don't live in a world where every week happens something worth mentioning and also I am not very reliable concerning regular blog updates (some of you might already know :oP). Anyway let's start off with some of the general news you definitely might not be interested in.
General
The Czech Republic has a new head of state. Yes that's right. After week of - let's call it "arguing" our government officials were able to elect a new president. Congratulations. Chmmm... Now for something noteworthy: Best Buy Loses Laptop: Owner sues for $54 million. Yeah, I hear you say - that's not interesting at all as it happens every week (in USA anyway) - yeah it does but I think this is kinda different. The owner - Raelyn Campbell bought an extended warranty from Best Buy as many others do and her laptop also broke down as many others do, too. But Best Buy after being hounded for three months finally admitted that they lost the computer and offered her $900 gift card for her $1100 notebook containing personal data worth another $1000. So she rightly demanded her $2100 but was completely ignored by Best Buy. They offered her $4100 to shut her up just after she brought up the case and filed the suit.
Now she doesn't really want that kind of money for her lost laptop, she just want to shed some light on this and make an issue out of it - and that is really nice of her, isn't it? Best Buy is known for their bad attitude towards customers and offering $900 for losing your laptop without previous legal notice (as it is legally required) or not communicating at all really needs to change. Let's hope it will :) The original article and the discussion can be found at Yahoo! Tech. Entertainment
And finally for some music :) There are basically just two things I'd like to mention. The first is the new promo album of Zastavárna Blues Band - my favorite electric-blues band. You can listen to all four new songs on www.myspace.com/zastavarnabluesband. Hope they'll get to tour UK as their recent guests in Brno said that they would have great success there. The second news is more important for people in central Europe. Rattle Bucket, great rock - crossover from Brno reached great second place in quarter finals of International Live Awards in Wien and they are heading to the semi finals which will take place 22.3.2008 again in Planet Music, Wien. So if you want cheap transportation, free cd and club entrance, the booking starts Feb 22th on http://bandzone.cz/rattlebucket where you can of course listen to their songs, too. |
